Hi everyone, thought I’d make the first introduction post properly.
I’m Dan, based in Suffolk and relatively new to magic compared to many people here, although it’s something I’ve become really passionate about over the last couple of years.
The areas I’m most interested in are card magic and mentalism, especially performance styles that feel more natural, interactive and engaging rather than overly reliant on props or complicated setups. I’ve been spending a lot of time learning sleight of hand, presentation, audience management and the overall thinking behind creating stronger reactions and more memorable performances.
I’m also a big fan of modern mentalism and psychological style effects, particularly performances from people like Derren Brown and Marc Paul. I really enjoy effects that feel impossible but still grounded and believable to an audience. On the card side, I’ve always enjoyed packet tricks and smaller visual routines as well, especially material from performers like Max Maven, Nick Trost and John Bannon.
Outside of creating Misdirect, I’m still very much learning myself, so one of the main reasons for building the forum was to hopefully create a place where people can share ideas, learn from each other and just have good discussions around magic and performance.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone and seeing the community grow over time.
